WHY IS YOUR PROGRAM BETTER THAN OTHERS?
To answer that question, read this article.
WHAT WILL THE STUDENT HAVE ACHIEVED AT THE END OF THIS COURSE?
The student will have the ability to read the vast majority of words in the English language, and his/her comprehension will be at or above their age level. Their spelling skills will also have improved as they have learned phonic reading. At the end of the course the student will have a complete binder with all the rules and reading words they have learned in order to refresh their memory from time to time.
IS THERE ANYTHING NEEDED AFTER THE COURSE IS COMPLETED?
No. The student will be fully trained in reading. The completed binder has all the “refresher” material needed.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAM TAKE?
The amount of time depends on the ability, maturity level, and desire of the student. The average student completes the entire course in 30 - 60 hours of instruction.
WHAT ARE YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CLASSES?
Ideally students should come two to three hours a week. This allows most students to progress quickly through the program with less time needed for review. However, one hour a week also works. For younger children or children with short attention spans, sessions can be half hour sessions.
DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE COURSE?
No. There are no contracts. You pay for the lessons as you use them. You may stop at any time without penalty. If you book a lesson and then fail to "show up" without giving 24 hours notice, you will be charged. Naturally, to receive the maximum benefit, you need to complete the course, but the choice is always yours.
HOW OLD SHOULD CHILDREN BE BEFORE LEARNING TO READ?
To answer that question, read this article.
WHAT DO STUDENTS NEED TO KNOW BEFORE TAKING THIS READING COURSE?
Students need to know the alphabet letters in correct order and be able to speak English on a foundational level.
CAN THIS PROGRAM HELP WITH SERIOUS LEARNING DISABILITIES?
For the answer to that see this
article
on the Academic Associates site.
WHERE DO YOU TEACH?
We have a dedicated Reading Center in the basement of our home at 1856 Upland Street. We are on the bottom end of the street. If you are coming on 20th Ave., just turn between the Petrocan and A&W. We are halfway down the street in the blue house. Appointments must be booked in advance.
The initial reading assessment is FREE for Prince George students [long distance students see below] and there is no obligation or pressure to enroll. The decision is totally yours. Call 250-562-7733 [if you live in Prince George only] or use the contact button to book your appointment. The assessment takes less than 15 minutes. The lessons are $60.00 per hour or you can save BIG $$$ by purchasing 4 hours in advance for $180.00. For those of you who think this is expensive consider that where I live an auto mechanic charges $80.00 + an hour and hair styling for a lady will cost $120.00 and up. For a mere $60 an hour [or less by purchasing 4 hours at a time], you can obtain a vital, life-time skill. Once you are done the course, you will never need us again.
This first thing to do is to check to see if there is an Academic Associate Reading Center near you. Each Reading Center is individually owned and operated by caring people who want to help you learn to read or improve your reading skills. It is easiest and best if you can be face-to-face with your instructor. If you live in northern Florida check out Phonics Reading Guide or

to check if there is another Academic Associates Learning Center near you. If there is no Academic Associate Learning Center near you, you can take the course by computer. You will need the following items: 1. A computer with microphone [built-in is fine] and speakers, 2. A printer [You will be given passwords to print off PDF files of reading words before the reading lesson.], 3. A copy of
Skype
[free program], 4. An E-mail address, 5. A mailing address, 6. A web cam is optional but beneficial [This is more important if English is not the first language - or the student struggles with the letter sounds themselves - as it may mean the student will need to observe the correct mouth positions to make the letter sounds.], 7. A credit card. 8. A high-speed Internet connection Important Note: In the case of younger children or children who are easily distracted, the presence of a parent will be required.
HOW DO I PAY?
Payment is due before each lesson. If you are attending in person, you may pay by cash or paypal [via computer either at your home or here at the Reading Center]. If you are a long distance student you may pay by paypal or by sending in a money order - money order must be received before the lesson.Sign up for our complete reading program now.
